Its foundation store was laid by first Prime Minister of the country, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, on January 14th, 1949 and it was inaugurated by Pandit Nehru on 4th April, 1956. It is a pioneer institute of the country. In the year 1986, the institute associated with DRDO, Ministry of Defence, GOI on a project entitled “Manpower development in the area of Computer Science” through which M. Sc. In fact, the Institute’s strength is its Alumni who have brought laurels to the Institute. The Institute needs their constant supoort for the benefit of the future product i.e youth of the country.
It is great that the Alumni of JK have formed the branches of JK Alumni Association of their own effort in different cities of the country. The parent association has to address some integration and cohesion between these branches.
I am very sure that with the dedicated efforts of the faculty, employees and the students, the Institute shall be able to address the new challenges that the world is facing and shall be able to work out and provide exciting new possibilities.
