J. K. Institute of Applied Physics and Technology stands as one of the most prestigious colleges of our country. The Department of Electronics and Communication (well known as J. K. Institute of Applied Physics and Technology) is located in the Muir College Campus (Science Faculty) of the University of Allahabad. It is older than any of the IITs. Its foundation stone was laid by Late Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru on April 14th 1949 and it was formally inaugurated by him on April 4th 1956. It was named as J.K. as J.K. Trust contributed for the construction of the complete building structure. It is a pioneer department in the country today for teaching and research in the discipline of electronics, communication and computer science.
The Department of Electronics and Communication is widely known as J. K. Institute of Applied Physics and Technology as J. K. Trust had donated a handsome amount for its creation in the year 1949. Its foundation store was laid by first Prime Minister of the country, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, on January 14th, 1949 and it was inaugurated by Pandit Nehru on 4th April, 1956. It is a pioneer institute of the country. In the year 1986, the institute associated with DRDO, Ministry of Defence, GOI on a project entitled “Manpower development in the area of Computer Science” through which M. Sc. (Computer Science) students were inducted in various laboratories of DRDO as Scientist ‘B’. Today, it offers B. Tech. (ECE+CSE), M. Tech. (ECE), M. Sc. (CS) and D. Phil. in Electronics & Communication / Computer Science. M. Tech. (CSE) is in offing. No wonder then, most of the organization in India and abroad are being managed by its Alumni. In fact, the Institute’s strength is its Alumni who have brought laurels to the Institute. The Institute needs their constant supoort for the benefit of the future product i.e youth of the country.
